Maryland Restorative Justice Initiative provides services and programs in the following areas:
MRJI, informally known as “The Lifer’s Coalition,” is a four-phase initiative that focuses on “changing policy or legislation to create a mechanism for persons serving parole-eligible life sentences and long term incarceration to receive a meaningful chance of release.” Each phase of the initiative is designed to put policymakers in contact with family members, friends, and other organizations that are looking to reform parole.
Finally, MRJI aims to provide a forum for advocating for and speaking on behalf of individuals – who because of their incarceration are unable to advocate on their own behalf.
