Indyreader Spring Party Fundraiser and Celebration!

Come join Fusion program The Baltimore Indypendent Reader as they celebrate the launch of a new website, indyreader.org, and the release of the latest print edition, “Occupy the Economy.”

We hope you celebrate with us and contribute to the Indyreader fundraising drive, in which they hope to raise $10,000 by the end of June! We have big dreams for the project . . . purchasing media-making equipment, providing financial support to journalists, printing papers, and more. All of this so that Indyreader can continue to bring you social justice-oriented and community-created news.

In order to realize our dreams, we need your help. So please join us in celebration at the Baltimore Indyreader Spring party! The door fee will be $5, sliding scale. (Of course, we will not say no if you donate more!)

Beer, wine, soda, juice, and assorted tasty treats (there will be vegan and gluten-free options!) will be sold. There will also be musical performances, drag performances, burlesque, dance, comedy, and so much more. We look forward to seeing you there!

The party will take place at 2640 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD on May25th from 7:00-11:00pm

Filmfest was a blast!

We would like to extend a hearty “THANKS!” to everyone who made last weekend’s filmfest possible. The films were all wonderful and viewing them in such great company was definitely a highlight for us! For those of you who were unable to attend, please take a look at the list of films and check out the great programs who presented (accessible through the links). We had a number of generous donations that will help to support Fusion in the comming months. Fusion Filmfest!

It recently occurred to us here at Fusion that in the last year our programs have been doing some really great stuff with film. Whether it’s the youth driven film production of New Lens, the antiwar activism centered documentary work of Hit & Stay, the encouragement and support being cultivated by The Den through their “It Get’s Better: Baltimore” series, or even the demonstration video’s being made by the folks over at The Baltimore Free Farm our community of change has been hard at work! So, we decided it was time to bring our programs together for a recognition and celebration of all the Social Justice work being done here at Fusion. Things are still “in the works” but we’re pretty excited so we thought you might wanna save the date! The Fusion Filmfest will be held:

“What Has Fusion Done For You?” -A Video Series-

Here at Fusion we often get questions about Fiscal Sponsorship and what positive benefits it can offer to community lead social benefit organizations. In this interview series we’ll be talking with several Programs about how being a member of Fusion has benefited their work.
In this first installment we sat down with Film-maker and public historian Joe Tropea to find out how Fusion has helped in the production of his Documentary “Hit and Stay” which explores the tactics and actions of Vietnam era Anti-War protesters.
